The responsibility for marriage preparation takes place at the parish level. Pastors take this responsibility seriously and the Office of Religious Education (ORE) for the Byzantine Catholic Archeparchy of Pittsburgh has been privileged to contribute to that preparation.
The ORE offers a Pre-Cana Program for the Archeparchy ONCE a year.
The two-part Pre-Cana Program takes place at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, 210 Greentree Road, Munhall , Pa. Please note that instead of a one-weekend program (as was done prior to Feb. 2009), the couples will attend two all-day Saturday sessions. All couples must attend both Part I and Part II of the program.
Pre-Cana dates for 2012 are MARCH 10 AND 24.
For over ten years, the ORE has helped hundreds of couples prepare for the Mystery of Marriage by sponsoring a program that addresses topics pertinent to their future lifestyle.
Program highlights include sessions dealing with Communication; Sexuality and Relationships; Byzantine Spirituality and Prayer; Natural Family Planning; Group and Round Table Discussions; Finances and Budgeting; Experiences of Marriage; and Theology of Marriage/Crowning Ceremony. Opportunities for the Mystery of Reconciliation and Divine Liturgy also will be offered. The program concludes on the second Saturday with Presentation of Certificates.
