For
over 30 years, the Divine Liturgy has been broadcast live every
Sunday from Holy Ghost Church in McKees Rocks, Pa., at 9:00
a.m. on WEDO – 810 AM. Father Ron Larko, pastor of Holy
Ghost, is the usual celebrant with occasional guest celebrants.
The station, located in White Oak, Pa. near McKeesport, has
a reach of 100 miles and covers communities in the tri-state
area of western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and northern West
Virginia.
The ministry began as an outreach program for shut-in parishioners
of the Pittsburgh Archeparchy under the special direction of
then Msgr. John Bilock, who later served as Auxiliary Bishop
of Pittsburgh and Archieparchial Administrator.
WEDO, under the leadership of John James, is known as the "Station
of Nations," offering ethnocultural and religious programming
for the enjoyment and educational benefit of its listeners.
Programs include the Carpatho-Rus' Program and special broadcasts
of the Divine Liturgy for the Feast of the Nativity from St.
John the Baptist Cathedral in Munhall, Pa., and the Sunday Hierarchical
Divine Liturgy during the Annual Pilgrimage in Honor of Our
Lady of Perpetual Help at Mount St. Macrina in Uniontown, Pa.
Donations help support the weekly program, with the remaining
costs subsidized by the Archeparchy.
Contributions to help sustain the Divine Liturgy Radio Ministry
are welcome. Checks/money orders should be made payable to Archeparchy
of Pittsburgh and sent to the Chancery Office, 66 Riverview
Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA, 15214.
