The faith community of Clymer originated in 1907 when members of the Greek Catholic Union’s St. Michael’s Lodge 414 initiated efforts to organize a parish.  These proved to be successful and a church, named for St. Michael, was formed and a stone structure was built.  Father Cyril Gulovich was the first pastor.

As it was the case in many communities, in the early 1930’s the parish chose to be affiliated with the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Diocese.  During the next three decades, Rev. Theodore Mankovich of Punxsutawney, Pa, dutifully administered to the spiritual needs of Byzantine Catholics in the community.   He celebrated the Divine Liturgy at St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church.

In 1964, the community was designated a mission parish of SS. Peter and Paul Church in Patton, Pa., and Rev. Andrew Chura was assigned as pastor.  The Liturgy was celebrated at the Union Hall and St. Anthony Church.  A choir was organized and the parish became known as St. Anne’s.  In 1966, the present site of St. Anne’s church was purchased. Property next to the church was purchased for parking and outdoor activities.
